xx Issue with MS Edge browser
« Thread started on: Apr 4th, 2017, 07:42am »

Richard has posted on the other conforum about an issue with copying and pasting out of the Edge web browser:

http://bbcbasic.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=ide&action=display&num=1491258792

Briefly, soft spaces copy as soft spaces instead of being converted to hard spaces, as they are by most programs when they copy to the clipboard. The encoding for soft space is the same as that for EVAL, so pasting into BBC_SDL, and presumably BB4W, results in soft spaces being converted to spurious EVALs.

I don't have access to Edge, so I can't test it. One solution might be to copy to an intermediate program, such as a text processor, and then copy from there, assuming it will convert the soft spaces. If anyone can try it and let us know what works, that would be helpful!

Best wishes,

D
