Publishing your Progams
Post by GordonSweet on Apr 13th, 2009, 07:27am
As many well know I have always been strictly an Amateur at any programming, never being employed in anything IT apart from helping with data control for an IBM main frame many years ago. This is why I restrict myself mainly to various versions of BASIC. But I do appear to be somewhat inventive in finding uses for programming, which perhaps explains why if you care to visit any of the sites below, you will see over the past few months a number of distributors have kindly decided to host or provide links to many of my programs. The full list is shown on my site at the bottom link. Notice how Brothersoft display icons to identify the Basic used although some of my packages include two or more versions.
I should explain because I offer my efforts as Freeware, I am happy for any site to publicise them, so some like the last three below actually nicked details without asking me, although Brothersoft did email me details as they accepted some. A search for some will show other sites such as Simtel and CNET also host a few. You will realise no matter how Amateurish the coding shown on pages of my site may appear to some, distributors do not accept software for publication unless working properly. This provides an excellent way of discovering if your programs reach a certain standard, and like me you can provide some publicity for BBC4W by say quoting it on the opening page or Window Title bar.
If you download any of my packages you will see, how I make use of a README description, and PAD file, the latter essential say when uploading to many distributors such as Simtel, who need no other details. The free software to create your PAD files can be downloaded from below and you are not obliged to pay to join ASP.
Gordon.
