One last question to be back running....

Dearest Richard and forum members:
Am doing great with the program with WMI and alphanumeric descriptions, thanks again.
Do you have the latest 5.96 version of download? And also the secure.exe which you had given out? Was only able to get 5.95a version with the updates....
Thanks for BBC BASIC lifesaving, Yshua

There's no such version (and unlikely ever to be)! The only versions available as an upgrade/downgrade are 5.95a (UPGRADE5.EXE) and 6.00a (UPGRADE.EXE).

'Secured' executables don't run in recent versions of Windows, and I was not able to fix the issue, so the utility is no longer available.
Richard.

Dearest Richard:
Am only using my Windows XP pc offline to generate my secure.exe code, so would you please just let me have the old, XP version? Thieves struck once on my pc's, then on my blasted thumb drives in a backpack! They tried to deliver a knockout punch to me....
Please help me just get back where I was, Yshua

The 'secure' utility only ever worked with the specific version of BB4W for which it was configured, and I never attempted to make a version for v5.95a or v6.00a. The utility is now discontinued and unavailable, sorry.
Richard.

Dear Richard:
I swear it was running ON MY SYSTEM the last time it was up and running. And my system can use 5.94 without a problem! Please let me use it off line from the internet and I will bless you and find a way to recompense you!
Sorry, but a lot rides on this, Yshua

The only current, supported, versions of BB4W are v5.95a and v6.00a. v5.94a is obsolete, unsupported and unavailable.

The 'secure' utility was developed to placate a paranoid BB4W user (not you) who felt that the risk of somebody reverse-engineering his programs was too great. It attempted to prevent a debugger being able to examine the contents of memory - something a debugger is supposed to be able to do! This was only possible because of an 'accidental' feature of Windows, which has probably since been fixed thus making the utility worthless anyway.
Standard BB4W executables are adequately secure against all but the most determined hackers, so long as you enable the 'Encrypt & compress' option (which is enabled by default).
Richard.
