Program size field flashing
« Thread started on: May 28th, 2012, 09:41am » |

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit, testing the demo version of BBC BfW. IDE doesn't crash or anything, but the field with the program size (the one between the "Press F1…" and cursor coordinates) is constantly flashing. It's not such a huge deal, but after a bit of working it really becomes grating seeing something constantly twitch at the bottom.
Any way to stop it from constantly blinking?

Sorry, I'm afraid not. I don't know why it should be 'blinking' so obviously on your system; on all my PCs I see only the occasional blip, which I don't even notice unless I'm looking right at it. Do the other fields blink the same (e.g. the 'Column,Row' field) or is it only the 'Program size' field?

Only that one field. The rest never blinks (or at least I haven't noticed so far). I tried maximizing the window, minimazing it and then restoring it, fiddling around with compatibility settings… no luck.

The only thing that's different in that field compared with the rest is that the value is displayed right-justified (which is achieved by prefixing with two tab characters). Maybe there's something about your setup that doesn't like that.
I can't offer an immediate fix, but in the next release of BB4W I'll arrange that the 'program size' field is updated only when the size actually changes, which should hopefully solve it.
