I suppose we have to see if people gravitate towards it.

Since Richard does not seem to object to us mentioning LB I would point out it also has both a Yahoo and a forum like this.
I maybe wrong but there still seems to be more postings in its Yahoo group than the other.

There ain't much gravitating going on, it would seem.
Perhaps the BB4W user base must first attain a certain critical mass before the gravitational force becomes significant.

David.

Just arrived. I follow a multiple (now 3) site forum covering the video editing software I use. Richard made the comment that you only need to ask questions on one, but reading several to (potentially) contribute or just to see what's being discussed can be a bit of a chore. At least this one (vs Yahoo) has separate threads so items of no interest can be skipped.
Having said that, there's been very little of zero interest. Even the most advanced and 'esoteric' stuff is worth a quick scan just to appreciate how flexible and capable a language implementation we have thanks to Richard.

At least in this type of forum we get full page display, and not the silly half page layout of US Yahoo forums. Likewise code can be shown in a block such as with the use of # above.

I resisted promoting this forum for a long time (it has existed and been available for use for years) but a clear view was expressed on the Yahoo group that the level of advanced 'esoteric' stuff was putting off novices. I received a few private emails from people saying they didn't feel able to ask beginners' questions there.
I'm also a regular eavesdropper on the Liberty Basic boards where the split between the Yahoo group and the Conforums forum seems to work well.
Although some people seem to like Yahoo's email interface, I am always conscious of the need to keep discussions concise and on topic. Whenever a rambling thread, of little relevance to BB4W, appears on the group I can almost guarantee there will be resignations (I know people can switch email delivery off, but many don't want to or don't bother). This forum is more appropriate for lengthy technical discussions of interest only to a minority.
Richard.
